Rant: Last-minute sitter cancelled and I found the dumbest fix

My Friday night plans died at 4pm when the sitter texted 'sorry, sick' and I had a 2 year old losing it over a broken crayon. Instead of rescheduling, I built a blanket fort in the living room with the couch cushions and let him 'cook' me plastic food for 3 hours straight, and honestly it beat the dinner reservation we had. Anyone else turn a cancelled babysitter into a weirdly better night at home?
