Pro tip: I thought 'free time' after a canceled flight was a joke until I got 6 hours in Dallas
Last month my flight out of DFW got pushed to the next morning and I figured I would just sit in the terminal and stare at the wall for six hours. A gate agent pointed me to a free shuttle that runs to a hotel two miles away with a day pass for $15, and I swam laps and showered for the first time since 5am. Then I used the extra hours to call my sister, who I never get to talk to, and we worked out a whole weekend plan for her visit in April. Now I actually hope for a delay if it is longer than four hours. Anyone else turned a canceled plan into a better one, or am I just lucky that day?
