Rant: wasted 3 camping trips before I figured out my sleeping pad valve trick
I used to blow up my pad by mouth at the trailhead every trip, and it always felt flat by 2am at Cold Springs Campground in Colorado. Last weekend a guy two sites over watched me huffing away and asked why I wasn't using the pump sack that came in the box. Turns out it was stuffed in the bottom of the bag the entire 2 years I owned the thing, and my pad now stays firm all night. Anyone else find gear they forgot they had?
Did you ever check the rest of that stuff sack before you threw it back in the closet? I ask because those little patches and the valve adapter usually live in the same spot, and if the sack sat there for two years the other pieces probably did too. Dig through the whole bag before your next trip and you might find a few more free gifts you already paid for.
