My old canvas tent from 2008 versus my new silnylon one is a night and day difference.
That heavy, musty canvas thing took me and a buddy 45 minutes to set up in the Tetons, and it soaked through in a real rain. I switched to a silnylon model last year after a trip where everything got damp, and it's half the weight and bone dry inside. Has anyone else made a big jump in tent tech and been shocked by the improvement?

Read an article about how tent fabrics have changed. They said silnylon is way stronger for its weight than old materials. Makes you wonder what took so long for everyone to switch over, right? That setup time difference alone sounds like a game changer.

Man, I was a total canvas holdout for years, thought it was just tougher. But @calebwilliams is right, the new stuff is crazy strong and light. Getting my silnylon tent up in ten minutes flat made me feel silly for waiting so long.
