My $140 inflatable pad died on night two, never again
I bought this fancy inflatable sleeping pad last spring for a trip to Shenandoah, and it looked perfect in the store. The reviews online were all glowing, so I dropped the cash without checking the valve design closely. Night one it held air fine, but by night two I woke up at 2am flat on the ground with my hip digging into a rock. The valve had a slow leak right where it seals, and no amount of re-inflating or fiddling with it helped. I patched it twice with the repair kit, but it still hissed air out all weekend. That pad is now in the trash, and I'm back to my old foam roll which weighs twice as much. Has anyone else had luck with a specific brand that actually lasts more than a season, or should I just stick with foam forever?

Waking up flat at 2am with my hip on a rock sounds like my worst camping nightmare, and I've definitely had that exact moment where I just stared at the pad like it owed me money. My trick is to bring duct tape and pray, which works about as well as you'd expect.
