Vent: I was cleaning shutter blades wrong for years until a client called me out
Honestly, I used to just blast them with canned air, thinking speed was key. A guy brought in his Leica M6 last month and asked if I used a soft brush and lighter fluid, which totally changed my results. Anyone have a better method for old, gummy blades?

Read an old camera repair manual that swore by pure isopropyl alcohol for sticky blades. Tbh, the lighter fluid trick works but can leave a residue if you're not careful. The alcohol evaporates clean and breaks down that old grease pretty well. Just need a steady hand and a lot of those pointed q-tips.

Oh man, the canned air thing. Did that for ages too. It just pushes the gunk around. Switched to a tiny bit of naphtha on a q-tip, working from the hinge out. Made a huge difference on my old Pentax.
