Showerthought: My trick for cleaning viewfinder mirrors without scratches

I mean, I used to worry about scratching them, but a microfiber cloth dampened with lens cleaner works best. Idk, maybe it's just me, but wiping in one direction from the center out keeps it safe.

Tried your method after years of using whatever cloth was nearby, usually my shirt. My old way was a recipe for disaster, honestly. I had the fine motor skills of a confused bear trying to do brain surgery. That one-direction wipe from the center is a Total game changer, no more weird smears. You just saved my future viewfinders from my own bad habits.

Yeah, glad it worked for you! A buddy of mine totally ruined a lens by using his t-shirt to clean it (which is just asking for trouble). He had these awful streaks that made every photo look foggy, and he almost sent it in for repair. Then another photographer showed him that one-direction wipe from the center, and it cleared up almost all the mess. He felt like a fool for not knowing sooner, honestly. Now he's super careful about it, always using a microfiber cloth. Funny how a simple trick can save so much headache.

Honestly, I always thought the whole center-out thing was overkill? Tbh, I was a swirl-and-hope kind of person until I tried it on my old camera. Ngl, it actually makes a huge difference.
