My first solo Canon AE-1 re-seal, and the foam came out a gummy mess
I was at my bench in Tucson last Tuesday doing my first solo mirror bumper replacement on a customer's beat up AE-1, and the old foam had turned into this black tar that smeared across the screen when I pulled the cover off. I dabbed it with 91% isopropyl on a swab instead of scraping, went slow around the edges, and got the new light seal in clean with no haze on the glass. Anyone got a trick for the hinge side where the old goo hides, because that corner took me three passes to get right?
