A guy brought in a camera he said he fixed with a glue stick
This was at my shop in Austin last year. He was so proud, showing me his Canon AE-1 where he'd tried to fix a loose film door hinge with a hot glue stick. He said, 'It held for a whole roll, so I figured it was good.' I had to gently explain that heat and moving parts don't mix. Has anyone else had a customer try a 'repair' that made you just stop and stare?

What gets me is the logic, you know? They think because it worked once, it's a permanent fix. It's like using tape on a car tire because it didn't go flat on the drive home. That short-term success is the most dangerous part.

Exactly, that temporary win just sets you up for bigger failure later. I patched a roof leak with some tar once and it held for months, until the whole section gave way in a storm. People really do mistake a lucky break for a real solution, don't they?
