I still think push-pull cable routing is overrated for residential work

Everyone in this group swears by the push-pull method for fishing lines through walls, but I have been doing it the old way for 15 years and I get faster results. Last week I ran 200 feet of RG6 through a finished attic in a 1970s ranch house using just a glow rod and a fish tape. The push-pull guys spent an extra 30 minutes on the same job because they kept snagging on insulation. Has anyone else found that the traditional technique works better in older houses with weird framing?

Did you hit any blown-in insulation with that glow rod? I did a similar job last spring in a 1950s bungalow with that loose fill stuff everywhere. The push pull method kept grabbing clumps and I had to stop every few feet to clear it out. Switched to just a fish tape with a magnetic tip and got through in half the time. Old houses have weird framing like you said, our place has these random cross braces that snag everything.
