One vendor changed my whole approach to inventory management
I was at a trade show in Atlanta last spring and this older guy running a small booth said something that stuck with me. He told me 'your stockroom should look like a library, not a junk drawer' and I laughed but he was dead serious. He showed me his system with just colored dots and a binder, no expensive software at all. Has anyone else found a simple physical trick that beats digital tools?

That library vs junk drawer analogy is pretty solid, but the colored dots thing is actually way older than people realize. I remember reading about a similar system from the 1980s where warehouse guys used color coded stickers to track stock rotation, it’s basically the same idea as FIFO but without a computer. The binder part is the real key though, because it forces you to physically check and write things down instead of just trusting a screen.
