My boss in Atlanta told me to stop tracking our team's weekly email count.
We were in a meeting about productivity tools and I brought up our average of 342 emails per person each week, thinking it showed how busy we were. He looked at the number and said, 'You're measuring the wrong thing, focus on outcomes not activity.' Has anyone else been told to drop a metric that felt important?

What outcomes did he want you to track instead?

That metrics just activity not value hit me hard too. When I switched to tracking things like how many deals closed or responses from clients, it actually helped the team focus better.
