Hot take: Everyone's obsessed with automating everything in operations, but it's costing us quality.

I manage a fulfillment center in Memphis, and we pushed to automate 80% of our packing line last quarter. The error rate on orders actually went up by 15% because the system can't catch subtle product damage like a person can. We're now spending more on returns and customer service than we saved. Has anyone else seen automation backfire on a specific task?

Saw a piece about a car parts factory where the robots kept misaligning gaskets. They had to bring back a whole human inspection team.
