Just realized my bullet journal was stressing me out more than helping
I was showing my friend my weekly spread and she pointed out how many empty trackers I had. She said, "It looks like a to-do list you're failing." That hit different because I spent over an hour setting it up last Sunday. Now I feel like I'm just making work for myself instead of organizing my thoughts. How do you keep your journal simple so it actually helps you?

Honestly you're overthinking this whole thing. Trackers are there to show you what's happening, not to shame you for empty boxes. That blank space is useful data telling you where your energy actually went that week. My journal looks messy as hell half the time but it still works because I just write stuff down without judging the page. The point is to get things out of your head, not to make pretty art for other people to look at. If a simple list works better for you then just do that, but don't blame the tool for your friend's bad take.

Wait, your friend actually said that out loud? "Looks like a to-do list you're failing" is a wild thing to say to someone showing you their personal journal. That's like me showing you my messy garage and you saying it looks like a storage unit I'm failing to pay for. My whole journal is just a notepad where I scribble down concrete orders and random thoughts. If I tried to make it pretty I'd never write anything down.
