The day I realized I was paying for a gym membership I never used for 18 months
I was cleaning out my wallet last Sunday and found a faded receipt for a gym I signed up for back in 2021. I called to cancel and they told me my account was still active and I had been charged $45 every month for a year and a half. That's over $800 down the drain for a place I hadn't stepped foot in since the first week. Has anyone else ever let a subscription quietly drain their account for way too long?

That $45 a month adds up fast. I had a similar thing with a streaming service I forgot about for almost a year. Signed up for the free trial, used it for a week, then just never logged back in. Checked my bank statements six months later and saw $15 a month just disappearing for something I wasn't watching. Ended up being around $90, which isn't as bad as $800 but still stung. Makes you wonder how many companies make a ton of money just off people forgetting to cancel.

Oh man, that exact thing happened to me too lol. I finally set a recurring reminder on my phone's calendar for a week before any free trial ends now. It's saved me so much money, I just put "cancel [service name] or pay" and it pops up. Also started going through my bank statements every month just to catch stuff like this early.
