The $31 grocery run that broke my spreadsheet brain

Last Tuesday I finally got my weekly total under $40 for the first time in 6 months, down from like $90 a trip. But then I realized I'd been buying the same 12 staples all along, just at the discount store by the bus depot instead of the big chain... anyone else find their biggest win was just moving where they shop, not what they buy?

…and here I was patting myself on the back for finally remembering to bring my own bags, but turns out the real magic was just walking an extra ten minutes to the sketchy parking lot where the cans are sometimes dented. My spreadsheet still breaks every time I try to compare prices because the discount store never labels the unit cost, and I'm too cheap to do the math in my head. But hey, my weekly grocery line item finally looks like a number a normal person would spend, so I'll take the win even if I'm now afraid of the bus depot at night.
