My meal prep system fell apart after I ignored a tiny fridge leak

I had this great routine where I'd cook 8 portions on Sunday for the week. Then last Tuesday I opened the fridge and found a puddle under the veggie drawer, and all my prep got soaked and slimy. Turned out the drain hole was clogged for weeks and I just never checked it. Had to toss like 30 bucks worth of food and now I'm checking that thing every month. Anybody else have a hidden fridge problem ruin their savings plan?

Oh man, that's brutal. I actually saw something about this on a meal prep group I follow where a guy said his whole fridge drain freezes up in winter and causes the same mess. He started using a turkey baster to flush warm water down the drain hole once a month and it fixed it completely. I never even thought about checking the drain before. Now I'm gonna add that to my monthly fridge cleaning routine right alongside checking the seals. It's crazy how one tiny thing like a clogged drain can ruin a whole week of planning and money. Good tip on checking yours every month, cause once you lose thirty bucks in one go you never make that mistake again.

A cheap plastic drip tray under the veggie drawer saved my whole system. It catches any leak before it touches the food, and you just pull it out and rinse it. Cost me like 5 bucks and now I don't stress about hidden puddles anymore.
