Hot take: my $60 rice cooker beats every meal kit I ever tried

I spent $140 on meal kits for two months and still ate cereal for dinner half the time, but a $60 rice cooker from the Asian grocery on 6th street has fed me hot, decent meals almost every single evening for eight months now, so can someone explain why everyone pushes subscriptions over one good appliance?
