Thought I was saving money taking overnight buses until I did the math on the one from Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Sat down with my receipts from three trips and realized the $12 sleeper bus plus a hostel day room to recover cost me more than a $28 morning flight. The tipping point was landing in Chiang Mai at 5am with a stiff neck and blowing $9 on coffee and breakfast just to kill time before check in. Anyone else run the numbers on night buses versus cheap flights, or am I the only one who fell for the "save a night of lodging" trap?
