PSA: My friend swore by buying bus tickets at the station in Mexico City, but it cost me a whole day
My buddy Mark, who traveled through Mexico a few years back, told me to never book bus tickets online. He said just show up at the station, you'll get a better price and more flexibility. So I landed in Mexico City with no plans, headed to the Terminal Norte, and every single bus to Oaxaca for that day was completely sold out. I had to wait over 7 hours for the next available seat, which was on an overnight bus, and the price was the same as what I saw earlier on the Busticket.mx website. I spent my entire first day just sitting in a plastic chair eating overpriced station food. Has anyone else had a piece of travel advice backfire because things changed since it was given?

That "better price and flexibility" line is the worst. Things change fast, especially with travel. I always check online first now.

But what if you need to change plans last minute and the online rate is crazy high?
