Just realized I was wrong about staying in hostels after 30
Visited Lisbon last month and my cousin (who's 34) booked us into a hostel called Home Lisbon Hostel. I was dead set against it - thought I'd be the weird old guy surrounded by 19 year olds. But honestly? There were plenty of people our age, plus private rooms that cost like 35 euros a night compared to 90+ for even a basic hotel. The common areas had actual quiet corners where you could read, and the free walking tour they ran was better than any paid one I've done. Anyone else have their hostel prejudices totally turned around?
Same exact thing happened to me in Barcelona last year. I was 32 and my buddy talked me into a hostel with private rooms and I ended up meeting a group of people in their 30s and 40s from all over Europe. The whole "hostels are only for kids" thing is totally outdated now, especially when you snag a private room for a fraction of a hotel price.
