Is cheap hostelling actually worth it for introverts? I'm split.

I was always skeptical about hostels. Thought they were just loud, dirty, and full of party people. Then last summer I stayed at one in Portland for $35 a night. Met a guy who showed me a free walking tour that saved me like $60 on attractions. The private room was quiet and clean. But then I also had a night where someone came in at 3 AM and woke me up. So I'm torn. Are hostels worth the savings if you value quiet? Or is the money lost to bad sleep? I'm trying one in Austin next month. Has anyone else gone back and forth on this?

Honestly, "bad sleep" is the real dealbreaker here. I've done both and the private room is the only way to go if you're an introvert. Tbh, that $35 Portland night sounds like a win, just stick to places with solid noise policies.
