Watch out: my $40 speaker wire upgrade actually made my center channel buzz worse
I hung a used Optoma projector in my living room last month and picked a universal ceiling mount for $28 off an auction site. The mount had a short 8 inch drop arm and my projector's lens sat way too close to the wall, so the picture came out at like 60 inches instead of the 100 I wanted. I had to move the whole bracket 14 inches back, patch two holes in my drywall, and re-run the HDMI cable through a different path. Has anyone else gotten burned by cheap mounts not matching their projector's offset, or is there a trick to measuring before you commit?
