Saw a guy at a Best Buy in Tulsa build a whole theater around a $60 projector and it looked better than my $900 setup
I was killing time in the TV section last Saturday and this dude was showing his phone pics to a worker, all proud of his garage setup. He had a cheap 1080p projector off Facebook Marketplace, a bedsheet stapled to a frame he built from 2x4s, and a soundbar he got for $40 at a flea market. The thing that got me was he painted the wall behind it flat black with a $12 can of oops paint, and he said it killed all the light bounce that was washing out his picture. I went home and looked at my own room and realized I never even thought about the walls, I just kept throwing money at gear. Anybody else fix a glare or washout problem with paint instead of a new screen?

Blacking out the walls changed my whole picture too, way cheaper than a new screen.
