Why does everyone boil their chicken when you can just roast a whole one for less money?

I was over at my sister's place in Tulsa last weekend and she was boiling chicken breasts for tacos. It hit me that she spends like $8 on boneless skinless breasts when I can grab a whole bird for $4.50 and get way more meat plus stock out of it. Been doing this since I started cooking for myself five years ago and I swear people just never think past what the recipe says. Am I missing something or is there a reason everyone defaults to boiling?

i mean yeah roasting a whole bird is cheaper but not everyone has the time or energy to deal with a whole chicken ya know lol. like my sister has two kids under 5 she's not gonna stand there carving a bird for tacos on a tuesday night. also not gonna lie sometimes that pre boiled shredded chicken is just easier for meal prep if you're lazy like me

A rotisserie chicken from the grocery store costs like $5 and you don't have to cook or carve it, just pull the meat off with your hands while the kids watch tv. Beats paying extra for someone else to shred it in a bag.
