Took me 4 tries to get lentils to not taste like cardboard
I kept seeing cheap lentil recipes online and every time I made them they came out dry and bland. Finally figured out I wasn't soaking them long enough, like 30 minutes vs the 2 hours the bag said. The difference was night and day after I actually followed the timing. Anyone else have a basic staple that took way too many attempts to get right?
Cardboard" is being generous for my first attempts. Mine came out like tiny gray rocks that could probably chip a tooth. I followed every tip except the soaking time too, figured it was a scam to sell more lentils or something. Nope, just me being stubborn and lazy. Now I set a timer and stare at the bowl like it's a science experiment. Still not great at them, but at least they're edible now. My dog refuses to eat them though, which says a lot.
