Learned to check the price per ounce on spices and it's saving me $30 a month
I kept buying those little $4 jars of cumin at the grocery store without thinking about it, but a friend pointed out the bulk bin at my local co-op sells the same amount for like 80 cents. I weighed it out on my kitchen scale when I got home and sure enough, same exact stuff for a fifth of the price. Does anyone else have a specific item they refuse to buy the small version of anymore?
I just did the math on my spice rack and realized I've been paying Whole Foods prices for what's basically sawdust in a fancy jar. Bulk bins are the move, and now my kitchen scale gets more use than my treadmill.
