My dad had me mixing mortar at 10, now I'm debating with my wife about our son.
Growing up, my dad got me started on bricklaying jobs early. I think it taught me discipline and a solid trade. But my wife says we should let our kid choose his own path without pushing him into it. Where do you stand on bringing family into the business? I'd love to hear your stories.

My grandpa showed me plumbing at twelve and that early look really helped me later on.

My grandpa had me on the job site young too, and it gave me skills I still use. The trick was he never forced it as my only future, just showed me the work. Maybe you could let your son try it on weekends without making it his whole life. Seeing what hard work looks like can be good for kids, even if they pick something else later. How did your wife learn about work when she was young?
