Hot take: the Level Transit was a waste on my last big wall

I used to swear by them for long runs, but after my job on the Maple Street condo in Portland last month, I stopped. The sensor kept drifting in the rain and I ended up re-checking every course with a 2 foot level, cost me a full afternoon. Maybe mine was a dud, but has anyone else ditched electronic levels for plain spirit ones on outdoor work?

Toss the fancy stuff and go back to what works. Every tool with a battery in it eventually lies to you when the weather turns, and that's just life. I see the same thing with people trusting their phones for directions when the damn thing loses signal and they're stuck in the middle of nowhere. The old-school stuff, it doesn't care about rain or cold or a dead battery, it just sits there doing its job. You paid for the convenience with your afternoon, but now you know better. The real lesson here is that technology is only as good as the moment it stops working, and that moment always comes at the worst time.
