Wasted $15 on fancy bread flour for my first loaf

I bought this expensive King Arthur flour thinking it'd make my first bread perfect. My loaf came out dense and gummy anyway, total waste of money. Anybody else mess up their first bake with overpriced ingredients?

King Arthur is solid, try adding more water and a longer rise time.

Hope you don't mind me saying so @river_jones, but I tried that King Arthur trick and my dough turned into a sticky monster that wouldn't let go. Guess I should've measured my water instead of just dumping it in like I normally do. At least the final product tasted fine even if it looked like a sad pancake.
