Hot take: Office plant policies say a lot about management style

I've noticed that how a company handles office plants can tell you a lot about their management. At my previous job, the boss banned all personal plants from desks, saying they were a distraction. But at my current place, they encourage us to bring in our own greenery and even have a plant care schedule. It makes the office feel more alive and people seem happier working there. I think when management trusts employees with small things like plants, it shows they value our input. Now with remote work, I see coworkers sharing photos of their home gardens during team calls. It's a small way to connect and reminds me that caring for plants is like nurturing a good work environment. Maybe companies should think more about how simple green spaces can boost morale.

My last job banned all plants. We printed out articles on better air flow. They changed the policy fast.

Wow, it's amazing how a little proof can change silly rules, right?
