Chose a native ground cover over grass for my front yard

Spent last weekend ripping out half my lawn in Phoenix to put in desert marigold instead of just keeping the bermuda grass. I was worried it would look patchy but the yellow flowers popped after 3 days of watering. Now my HOA is sending me letters about it but honestly it uses way less water. Anyone else deal with neighborhood pushback after switching to natives?

Oh wow. My buddy in Tucson tried the same thing and his HOA about lost it.

Did you check if your city has a water conservation program? Some places in Arizona will actually back you up against HOA rules if you can show it saves water. Might be worth calling the water department to see if they have a letter or something on their letterhead you can hand to the board.
