Vent: Found out my old copy of Moby Dick from 1922 has a hidden watermark I never noticed for 10 years.

I was regluing the spine and held the endpaper up to the light, and there was this faint embossed logo from the original binder in Boston, which made me wonder how many other secrets are hiding in plain sight on my shelves - has anyone else stumbled onto something weird inside a book while working on it?

My 1950s copy of Dune had a grocery list tucked in the back from 1978, all in pencil. It was just milk, eggs, and "call Phil," but it felt like holding a tiny piece of someone else's normal day. Honestly, finding that stuff is the best part of fixing up old books for me. It makes the whole thing feel way more personal than just some story.

Found an old newspaper clipping tucked inside a copy of The Great Gatsby from the 1940s. It was a review of the book from 1925, written by someone who clearly didn't think much of it. The paper was so brittle it almost turned to dust when I touched it, but I managed to get it out whole. Stuff like that makes you realize every old book has its own little story beyond just the words on the page. I keep meaning to frame that clipping, but I never get around to it.
