My sewing frame snapped in half mid-sewing last night

I was doing a 6 signature coptic stitch binding for a friends journal and about halfway through the third signature my cheap wooden sewing frame just cracked right down the middle. Honestly I was so frustrated because I only had 45 minutes left before I had to pick up my kid from practice. I ended up clamping the broken pieces together with some mini clamps I use for book pressing and it actually held up long enough to finish the book. Has anyone else had a sewing frame fail on them like this or am I just using too much tension?

Clamp it and buy a sturdy wooden frame next time.

Heard from a guy who restores old furniture that even a cheap clamp can do the trick if you tighten it slowly and let the wood settle over a day or two. Something about the grain shifting and the glue bonding better that way, but your mileage may vary depending on how warped the frame is. Might be worth trying before you drop cash on a new one, just take it slow and check the alignment every few hours.
