Hot take: I thought a bone folder was just a fancy name for a butter knife.

My friend in the local guild told me to spend the $8 on a proper Teflon one from Hollanders, and after trying it on some marbled paper, the difference in crease quality is wild. Has anyone found a good alternative for working with really thick leather?

Actually, a bone folder is for paper, you need a different tool for leather.

Wait, are you saying a bone folder is only for paper? That's wild, because I've used mine on thin leather for years (you know, for scoring lines). It works fine if you're not dealing with super thick stuff. Maybe for heavy leather you'd need something else, but calling it the wrong tool feels like a stretch.
