Our club read a 900 page doorstop in 3 weeks and half of us quit by chapter 4
I pushed for a big dense family saga at our April meeting because I liked it alone at home. Bad call. Nine people showed up to talk about it, only four finished, and the other five just sat there while we argued about the ending. What surprised me is that the quitters gave way better notes on chapter one than we did on the whole book. So now I want to try splitting the pick into chunks with a check in every 100 pages. Has any club here done a page cap instead of a deadline?
