That $200 fire blanket I bought for boiler work was a total joke

I grabbed this fire blanket off Amazon thinking it would save my skin if something went wrong near a torch. First time I tried it out on a small test flame, it barely held up for 30 seconds before it started smoking bad. Cost me $200 and I feel like I just threw the money down a hole. The packaging made it look heavy duty but it felt thinner than a cheap tarp. Has anyone else bought safety gear that turned out to be useless when you needed it?

$200 for a fire blanket that smokes after 30 seconds sounds like it was more of a decorative towel than safety equipment. Amazon really let you buy a glorified napkin with a fancy label on it. Should have just bought a wet bath mat for twenty bucks instead.

$200 for something that smoked after half a minute? I'd be asking Amazon for a refund before the smoke cleared. But honestly, how often are most of us really gonna use a fire blanket anyway? I get being upset about wasting money, but it's not like you're gonna be wrapping yourself in it every Tuesday. Maybe just get a regular extinguisher for thirty bucks and call it a day.
