I was convinced Scythe was overrated hype until I actually played it 6 times in one weekend
My buddy kept pushing me to play it for like a year and I always dodged it. Looked like a weird euro game with a giant board and too many pieces. Then we had a cabin trip last month with nothing but rain and that was the only game he brought. First play I was confused and honestly kinda bored. But by the third game I started seeing how the faction powers and combat timing actually work together. By game six I was already planning my next moves while other people were taking their turns. Has anyone else had a game they wrote off completely that ended up becoming a favorite after being forced to actually play it?

Did the combat timing specifically click for you around game three or was it more about how the resource management flows into those big territory grabs? I'm curious if it was the same moment for you where the whole "move first, fight later" thing stopped feeling random and started feeling like a puzzle. Because that's what kept me coming back to Terraforming Mars despite bouncing off it twice before I got it.

Wait, was it really the combat timing or more the resource tension that made it click for you? For me, it was around game four when I realized I could fake out an opponent with a weak early move just to snag a big territory later. That's when the "move first, fight later" thing finally felt like a real strategy instead of just luck.
