A guy at the game store in Omaha said he only plays games with a 'perfect BGG rating' of 10.0, which is impossible.

Honestly that mindset just kills the fun of trying new things. Tbh it's like people who only watch movies with a perfect score on some website. You end up missing so many great games that are just a solid 7 or 8, which is most of them. Ngl it feels like a weird performance thing, like trying to prove you have perfect taste. Kinda sad because the best part of the hobby is just sharing a fun experience, not chasing some impossible standard.

I used to chase high BGG ratings too, until I played a game rated 6.8 that became my group's favorite for a whole summer. It was a cheap, silly card game about building sandwiches, and we laughed more than during any "perfect" game. That taught me that the number is just a crowd average, not a prediction of my own fun. What's the lowest-rated game you've actually loved?
