Warning: 6 straight days of rain wrecked our block party, and the backup plan was a folding table in a garage
We picked Saturday for our block party back in March and of course the sky opened up that entire week, 6 days of rain here in Dayton. I had 40 hot dogs, two coolers of drinks, and a rented bounce house sitting in my driveway going soggy. We moved the whole thing into my neighbor Ray's garage at the last minute and squeezed 30 people around one folding table with a single string of lights. The bounce house guy still charged me the full $180 deposit and would not budge on it. Kids ended up playing cornhole in the rain under a tarp and honestly they had a blast, but the adults were standing shoulder to shoulder bumping into a lawnmower. How far out do you all book a rain date, or do you just eat the loss and hope for sun?
