Tried the city permit office route for our July block party and got told to wait 6 weeks for a 3 hour street closure
Our street in Bay Ridge tried to throw a block party on July 13th and the permit process nearly killed the whole thing. One guy on our block, Marco, waited 6 weeks just to get a yes on closing off the street from 10am to 1pm, and they still hit us with a $75 application fee plus a fire lane rule I never heard of. Next year we are just doing it in somebody's driveway with a grill and calling it a cookout, no forms, no waiting. Has anyone actually pulled off a real street closure without the city dragging it out for over a month?
