Pro tip: a roll of painter's tape fixed our block party rain plan
We got rained out on a Saturday in July 2023 after setting up 6 tables on the street and it was a mess, food getting wet, people running for cars. For the next one I tried taping a big X of blue painter's tape on my driveway with a note saying "if it rains, we move under here" and stuck a cheap pop-up canopy over it. I also wrote the rain spot on the paper invites, just one line under the time, and told 3 neighbors to text the group chat if clouds showed up. It rained again in August and 14 people showed up under that canopy in about 5 minutes because they already knew where to go. The tape came off clean and the canopy cost me $40 at the hardware store. Anyone else got a cheap way to keep people from scattering when the weather turns?
