Neighbor kid asked why our block party has no fire truck this year, and he was right
Last Saturday I was hauling folding tables out of my garage when the 9 year old from two doors down asked me a simple question: why did the fire truck stop coming to our block party. I stood there with a table leg in my hand and realized he was right. We had a fire truck visit every summer for six years straight, but it quietly stopped when our old block captain moved to Boise in 2022 and nobody picked that job back up. I called the station that afternoon, and they said they just need two weeks notice and a spot wide enough to park the rig. Now I am wondering what else we let slip without noticing. Anyone keep a written list of their block party traditions so this does not happen?
