Did you ever think the handshake might not be the whole problem? I read some thing a while back where a dating coach said the end of a date should match the vibe you built, so if it was flirty and fun you go for a hug or at least a light touch on the arm, and if it was more chill then a hug still works better than a handshake. A handshake basically says "we just closed a business deal" and kills whatever spark was there. Maybe it's just me but I'd say if you like them, go for the hug, and if you really like them and the signs were there, lean in for the kiss. Worst case you get a cheek or a quick pull back and you laugh it off.
