Realized I was quenching in the wrong oil after 2 years
Was at a shop swap meet and an old smith dipped a piece of my steel in his canola oil tank, said my stuff was coming out too brittle. Took his advice and switched to warm canola instead of fast oil, now my punches don't crack on the edges. Anyone else find out their quenchant was the problem after a long time?

Man, canola oil is a game changer for sure. I ran my stuff in motor oil for way too long before someone told me the same thing. Quenching is one of those things you just gotta get right or it messes up everything.
