I blew $75 and 14 hours on that 6 season drama everyone told me to watch
I finally gave in and started the show everyone at my office keeps raving about, and I have to say, I feel tricked. It runs six seasons and I made it to the middle of season three before I admitted I was not having a good time. I spent about 14 hours on it, plus $75 because I bought the first three seasons on sale instead of just trying one episode first. The first season was slow but I kept telling myself it would get good, and everyone said the payoff was worth it. Here is the thing though, I keep seeing two camps on this. One group says you have to push through the slow parts because the ending makes it all click. The other group says if a show needs 20 hours to get good, that is not a good show, that is a hostage situation. I lean toward the second camp now, but I want to hear from folks who finished it. Did it actually pay off for you, or did you also feel like you wasted a weekend on it? And for the record, no spoilers please, in case I ever go back.
