Protected lanes finally clicked for me in Austin last Tuesday
I used to think the plastic bollard protected lanes were a waste, drivers just ignored them or parked between them anyway. Then I was riding south on San Jacinto near the Capitol and a delivery van tried to squeeze in, but those posts physically bounced him off and he backed out, no close pass. Has anyone else had a moment where a barrier they doubted actually earned its keep, or do your city's protected lanes still feel fake?
