Overheard a driver say bike lanes are for 'joyrides', not errands
Standing at a crosswalk on SE 12th last Tuesday, this guy in a pickup told his passenger that the new protected lane is only for people out for fun, since nobody does real trips on a bike. But I ride that same lane to drop my kid at daycare and hit the grocery store on the way back, three times a week. Made me wonder if drivers ever see the cargo racks and panniers, or just the spandex crowd. Has anyone else caught people dismissing bike commutes as non-essential travel?
