Can we talk about those bike lanes on Broadway that just end at the bridge?

I hit that spot on Broadway near the Steel Bridge yesterday where the bike lane just vanishes. There's no sign, no painted line, nothing. I had to merge into car traffic going about 25 mph and got honked at by a bus. Been biking that route for 8 months now and it still catches me off guard every time. Why can't the city just paint a simple dashed line to guide us across the intersection? Has anyone else nearly gotten side-swiped at that exact spot?

My buddy Greg actually got his mirror clipped by a pickup there last month. He said his heart was pounding for like 10 minutes after.
