Switching to a four-day work week at our bike shop changed everything

We tried a new schedule where each mechanic works four ten-hour days. It cut down on overtime and gave us longer weekends. Our boss noticed that job completion rates went up because we had more focused time. I never thought such a simple change could make such a big difference.

About job completion rates going up from more focused time, that's part of it but I bet the longer weekends help too. Less burnout means people come back ready to work, not just from having longer blocks in a day. The change probably works for a mix of reasons, not just one thing.

But @derekd47, the REAL boost comes from longer work blocks, period.

Saw similar results when my crew stacked their hours too.
